Rap Muhammad has just released the second hip hop project of his career, combining smooth jazz and heavy bass rythyms with 90′s era rap influences into a short but sweet free mixtape that has begun ravishing the underground.
Appropriately titled Know Love, Rap Muhammad nosedives into controversial and familiar topics ranging from oil companies’ fracking to heartbreak and rebound to Occupy Wall Street. Claiming “peace and love”, the 23 year old Purdue graduate confronts pop culture’s lack of concious acceptance with witty wordplay, courageous lyrics, and an unprecedented flow.
Born in California and raised in the midwest, Rap Muhammad made his musical debut last year with the release of his first mixtape Elephant. Only two and a half short months laters he brings us his sophomore collection of work.
Determined to change the world, the young rapper took on the moniker Rap Muhammad. “I’m not a Muslim or part of the Nation of Islam, but I had an experience that exposed me to the philosphy of the prophet Muhammad and it followed along so closely with what I was doing I couldn’t ignore it. In it for the change not the dollars I always say.”
In an era where the entertainment industry attempts to sue the pants off of any threats to their business model (like file sharing), Pirate Bay’s Peter Sunde says, “It’s evolution stupid.” Bulding on top of other great artists and producers, Rap Muhammad evolves his sound likewise.
